  1. Possibly the first and most accessible Free MMO social interactive VR hub. For those with Vive or Touch controllers, Rec Room might be the more polished and interesting experience, but Altspace offers a level of accesibility that I've rarely experienced anywhere else. They support nearly every VR option available (still waiting on PSVR) and nearly every control method. I had to send in one of my Vive controllers for repair, and was able to use my PS4 controller to handle moving around while I used my remaining Vive controller for regular interactions. Most of Altspace's experiences are designed for accessibilty, which limit their complexity. The current top contenders are Antihedral, Tabletop D&D, (which really depends on finding a good DM, currently the only regular seems to be Travis's D&D Done Quick on Saturdays) Boss Monster (rules are difficult to pick up, but very fun if you have someone who knows what they're doing) Holograms(Cards) Against Humanity, and Disc Golf. All very simple games that can be played with a ingle button press, but still very fun. For some people, the bigger draw may come more from the numerous RL events that are brought into VR, such as watching the SpaceX launches, Political debates, Life VR performances by Reggie Watts, Drew Carey, and many others. These celebrities are actually using VR themselves, and though not everyone is in the same "room instance" but if you are, (and admins are capable of observing people and drawing them in from other rooms) then it is possible to talk to and directly interact with these people. For me personally, the most interesting part of Altspace is the number of people who have just picked up and started developing their own rooms with simple activities or experiences. There's no doubt that new unique completely user created experiences are just over the horizon. The sheer amount of potential to Altspace is staggering. The only limitation I can possibly see is the broad focus on all VR platforms making immersive VR experiences difficult to develop for. Regardless, Altspace VR is Free and absolutely must be explored, regardless of what VR platform you're using.
  2. Started talking to someone about the swordplay in Vanishing Realms. Found out they do sword fighting IRL (HEMA). I teach HEMA. Became friends and even let him come stay at my house for a week. VR does crazy things
  3. if youre looking for a good social vr game, i strongly recommend VRChat, far above this. the only accurate body tracking i had was my head, because index controllers dont work for finger tracking. being in this game was nauseating and the controls are very counter intuitive. content including world spaces, interactive games etc felt very lacking. there was no beauty. just corporate sterile fake awkward spaces
  4. Can't really use with oculus controllers (CV1, Quest/Rift S, Quest 2)
  5. I prefer Altspace because Vrchat decided to destroy worlds and change what worked Altspace is way better no whining kids no racism and no hate thank you for altspace
  6. Went into one of the areas and there was this guy explaining the future of VR to an older lady. She seemed very amazed and was talking about how she wished she could be around long enough to see the tech evolve. At that point I had a moment where I actually got goosebumps realizing that I am an early adopter into the future. Then I went into a room where I picked up a sword and shield and started swinging it around while talking to other people. I need to go in here more often.
  7. 2D is broken, can't even login. Been 2 days now where I've been having trouble logging in altspace from my PC. I've never had this issue before, 2 days in a row this has been happening. Is there a hacker? what's going on?

  8. Having a holoportation comedy club event spotlit and running at the same time as Failed to Render - a rather famous VR comedy club and probably one of Altspace's best known staple events - is probably not the smartest move and I'd like to suggest not doing that sort of thing in the future (edited)

  9. I just had a very interesting conversation with a guy named Mr. Pleasure on Altspace. He has literally built a huge university campus with a lot of classrooms & currently has a list of around 100 people waiting to start coming in & learning. He's also currently waiting to hear back & see if his accreditation application ends up getting accepted so that his Altspace university can be an actual legit licensed place of academics. @Lorelle I told him I'm gonna have to introduce him to some of the people over at Educators In VR.
